The Hearth House was originally a bungalow with very limited space, and the owners had previously received a refusal of planning permission before coming to us. At that point, they were close to giving up on improving their home. Working closely with them, we identified a way forward using permitted development, allowing the house to be extended and reconfigured without the need for a further planning application.

A new extension and internal redesign have completely transformed the way the home is used, creating a space that now comfortably meets the needs of family life. At the centre of the design is the fireplace, carefully positioned as the heart of the home, bringing warmth, character, and a strong sense of togetherness.

The result is a confident and beautifully resolved home that the owners are proud of, proving how thoughtful design and clear guidance can unlock the full potential of even the most constrained properties.
